Houston Police Department Utilizing e-Gov Services

The City of Houston is expanding their e-Government services and offerings to include additional business processes in more departments.

The Houston Police Department (HPD) is planning to offer more transparency and convenience to its customers via an additional Module of the GovPartner solution.   Phase One of this project allows the HPD the ability to manage traffic accident reports through GovPartner back-office system. Information is now accessible through the GovPartner solution making requests for accident reports and associated fees managed in the same central database. The City will see benefits in managing fees and business processes via one centralized streamlined application; allowing the City to better serve its citizens and customers.

Phase two will auto dealers to apply for a license to do business with the City of Houston; and within the same GovPartner software application, individual sales associates will also apply for a license to work with a specific auto dealer. HPD can then manage the licensees of sales associates and tie them to their appropriate dealer. Streamlining this process allows the City to easily track licenses and fees, and associate them where appropriate.

Currently, Houston’s Department of Administrative and Regulatory Affairs (ARA) utilizes GovPartner’s software solution to process and manage ARA specific licenses and their associated fees. This GovPartner application was implemented in June of 2008 and has since allowed: 1) City staff to manage business processes in one central database and 2) allows for citizens of Houston to apply for permits via an Online Portal and manage their application via the web. As of April 2011, ARA has processed 35,496 licenses and permits through this application, generating $5,152,677 in fees.
